Congratulations to our Section 7 Midweek team on winning the Grand Final on 23 November in windy and rainy conditions.
The score was 4-28 to 2-24. This is the first time the team has beaten St. Mary’s who had been on top of the ladder most of the season. In previous matches during the season Hamlyn Park Tennis Club were defeated by St. Mary’s by 1, 2 and 3 games.
The team consisted of Janeene Barry, Petra Neilson, Tanja McKenzie and Robyn Payne.
Janeene and Robyn have been members of the club for many years and Tanja and Petra have recently joined the club. Unfortunately Cassie Spain was overseas and unable to play in the Grand Final although she played in the semi and prelim matches and also during the season.
The team was presented with a premiership towel each, a glass of bubbly and had their photographs taken after the match at Geelong Lawn.
