Supporting One of Our Own – Seeking Hamlyn Park Members to Help Out

It is with somewhat a heavy heart that the Hamlyn Park Tennis Club wishes to advise that one of our longest serving members (and life member) of our club, Agnes Whitley, has recently being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.  Agnes is an active member of our club who regularly attends our functions and would drop around to our tennis club on a Saturday afternoon to see how the senior players were getting along.

One look round the clubroom walls at the various tennis premiership photos and it becomes clear that Agnes was a very accomplished tennis player who played pennant with a number of generations of players. She was always available for a word of encouragement, and keen to hear how you had been playing!

Along with husband Keith, Agnes also admirably served the tennis club in numerous roles on the committee and her efforts very much laid the foundations for where the tennis club has reached today.

As a tennis club whose members value the enormous contribution made by our longest serving members, we have an opportunity to support the family who will participate and raise money for Alzheimer’s Australia in an attempt to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease within our community.

We encourage as many members as possible to support the cause and encourage you to visit the below links for joining the “Geelong Memory Walk” at Eastern Park on Sunday Sept 14th.

We wish Agnes, her husband Keith and all the family our support and well-wishes.

We look forward to seeing your participation.
