2010 Winter Saturday Pennant Teams.

Seniors:

With the competition well into the season we have 5 teams competing on Saturday afternoon. Section 2(men), S(mixed) 8(men) 9(mixed) & 11(mixed). Currently we have 3 teams in the top 4 of their sections which is a great effort. I would especially like to mention section 11, who with the aid of some of our juniors been able to continue to field a competitive side each week.

Juniors:

Our juniors are also well into the Saturday morning season, Section 2(girls), 3(boys), 7(mixed) 9(boys), 14(boys), 18(girls) & 2O(mixed). Currently the juniors also have 3 teams in the top 4 of their sections. Many thanks to Rob and his helpers for managing to find ways to field these teams. Soon lists will be on the notice board in the clubrooms for individual names or groups of players wanting to form a team for the summer season. We are always looking to give new players from beginners to experienced levels a chance to play at our club, so please encourage your friends and any other family members to play. Even if you’re a beginner or just want to be emergency please put your name on the sheet, or contact Bill Cooper (seniors) on 5278 9618 or the junior committee. Teams need to be submitted to the association shortly after the end of the winter season.

2010 Winter Midweek Ladies.

Our club is again represented in the Bellarine Peninsula Tennis Association by 2 teams. The 2no season for 2010 has just commenced with both teams have been selected in Grade 8, so I am sure there will be keen rivalry on the courts. Good luck and many thanks to these ladies for there efforts in keeping our club represented in this competition.

**REVIEW: Junior Club Championships – Sunday 14 Febrauary**

The re-scheduled Junior Club Championship was held on Sunday 14 February and with glorious weather, the turnout was great with more than 20 players competing from each of the 7 junior teams the club had in summer competition.  The format was a round robin with sets played at first to 4 games. All players played 3 sets.

There was lots of support and encouragement for the players from their extended familiies. There was also welcome support from the junior committee and a number of parents on the day.

The boys were well represented and were split into 4 “grades”. The girls were not as well represented and were only split into 3 “grades”. The results were as follows:

                                       Winner                           Runner Up

Boys 1                        Nelson Roso                     Daniel Gibson

Boys 2                        Dario Sestak                    Raleigh Phillips

Boys 3                        Lincoln Luther                  Xavier Consedine

Boys 4                        Sebastian MacDougall

Girls 1                        Alessia Roso

Girls 2                        Tamika Willougby               Emily Krahe

Girsl 3                        Ellen Nagle                        Rebecca Claridge

There were lots of smiling faces and all the kids had a good day.  The tennis was followed by a trophy presentation and sausage sizzle.  All in all, a good day for the club!
